Perched on Brokenness

Broken holly tree branch from storm

Last week’s storm snapped the berry-laden holly tree branch out back.

Gazing from my window, I lamented with the tree, feeling broken inside, as well.

Beautiful tree, injured by a storm.

But, this morning, a robin perched atop the snapped site.

She dipped to the branches below, feeding on red berries,

Ripened just right for a rainy March morning.

A broken twig makes a mighty fine perch!

A broken heart can be a place to rest, as well.

A place to gather our prayers.

How wonderous is our Christ, teaching from Creation:

Perch on brokenness, and still be fed.

Thank you, LORD!

Robin eyes me, as I watch her gather berries below broken branch
