OUR FATHER 2020

Our Father – not my father, not your father, but OUR Father.

Who art in Heaven – home, where our Father dwells, where we are called one day forever, all together as family (with OUR father!).

Hallowed be thy Name – may our actions be loving, reflecting your holy name.

Thy kingdom come – we are called to build the kingdom – of the king, OUR Father.

Thy will be done – we pray that our Father’s dream comes true for his children.

On earth – yes, here, in this physical world, the earth, which our Father created.

As it is in Heaven – living together in peace and harmony with love guiding our actions.

Give us this day – as your children, we need to ask for this moment, today.

Our daily bread – not my bread, not your bread, but OUR bread, so that no one goes hungry, physically, mentally or spiritually. May we share with one another, especially with our sisters and brothers in need.

And forgive us our trespasses – we all sin against our father and one another; please forgive us; may we not lock up our sisters and brothers in jails for so long that we all lose hope and become bitter.

As we forgive those who trespass against us – let’s not hold grudges against one another, may we let trespasses go, let’s talk, let’s reconcile.

And lead us not into temptation – let us not fall into weakness, of turning away from our Father, from one another.

But deliver us from evil – give us the Father’s strength to ward off those temptations when sinful behavior beckons.

Amen – Yes! We believe as one family, one comprised of nations around the world, of people of all ethnic and cultural beginnings, of our Father’s creation. Yes, our Father created each of us just as we are. Who is anyone to look down on a brother or sister, who is the handiwork of our Father? He has dreams for each of us.

“Love one another as I have loved you.” – John 15:12
