Contrast

Tlic Tloc

“Whir whir whir” hums the washer.

“Tlic tloc tlic” counts the second hand on the surrounding walls, sturdy and silent.

Sip sip sip my breakfast tea.

Read read read my daily Scripture.

Routine routine routine – I want to scream,

“Will this day be any different?!!”

Meanwhile, across the world:

Refugees scramble to board planes,

Fleeing from extreme danger.

Bewildered children in parents’ arms.

Fearful people, thirsty and weary,

Yearning for surrounding walls of peaceful routine,

“Will this day be any different?!!”

Help!
